SPECIAL INTEREST ARCHAEOLOGY TOUR
ALWAYS SOMETHING NEW
OVERVIEW
Ancient timelines and recent colonial overlays are revealed in this ARCHAEOLOGY tour as you trace the artistic legacy of the original inhabitants of the land, the San Bushmen in their evocative rock art paintings, to find out about their spiritual beliefs and rituals, patterns of kinship, and how they survived for thousands of years until the arrival of the colonisers.
You explore divergent coastlines, visiting excavations that have revealed significant artefacts left by Middle and Late Stone Age inhabitants. You track the oldest known footprints of an anatomically modern human ancestor yet found. You peel away the patina of time when visiting landmark sites, such as one that contains the greatest diversity of 5 million year old fossils, to uncover the historical impact of colonisation and its legacies.
