With the art world currently abuzz prior to the Zeitz MOCAA opening in Cape Town next week, here’s more prestigious news just in.
Banele Khoza is one of the South Africans who have been placed in the top 10 of the prestigious ABSA L’Atelier 2017 competition.
In addition Banele Khoza has been announced as the winner of the prestigious Gerard Sekoto Foundation Award sponsored by The Alliance Française, the French Institute and the French Embassy.
L’Atelier is one of Africa’s most prestigious art competitions. It rewards young visual artists aged 21 to 35 with the opportunity to develop their talents abroad.
Building on the platform created over the past two years, the competition is continuing to expand across Africa, opening in a number of countries, where Barclays Africa has a presence.
The L’Atelier art competition is run in conjunction with the South African National Association for the Visual Arts (SANAVA).
This prize awarded to the winner of the Gerard Sekoto award consists of a return flight ticket to Paris, three months’ stay in the Cité Internationale des Arts, nationwide touring exhibitions and training in French.
