Porky Hefer

Currently helming Animal Farm, his design philosophy is that a pure design idea should be followed by a chorus of ”Why didn’t I think of that?”

Multiple award winner, he focuses on conceptual precepts that manifest in three dimensional forms, from public sculpture to product and furniture design.

Hefer’s larger-than-life seating environments have garnered extensive global recognition over the past few years. Voted 2010 Elle Decoration South African Designer of the Year, his first solo show Monstera Deliciosa was in Cape Town in 2015, he represented South Africa at the inaugural London Design Biennale in 2016, had a solo exhibition at R & Company in New York in 2017, and debuted at Design Miami/Basel with Endangered to benefit the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation in 2018.

As creative director in agencies such as Hunt Lascaris in Johannesburg and Bozell and Ogilvy in New York, he has worked on international brands like Nike, Levis, Coca Cola, American Express, BMW and local ones likes Nando’s.
